The Sports Awards 2024

Back
3rd Oct 2024

The event will celebrate the successes of our overall school sports, plus the individual Sport Academies.  We’re thrilled to reveal our speaker will be Aaron Kneebone, one third of the ‘Dark Trio’; the rowing team who smashed the world record for rowing across the Atlantic in 2023, in support of the mental health charity Young Minds. The trio rowed 2,748 miles using over 1.5 million oar strokes - the time of 35 days, one hour and 32 minutes is a new world record, beating the previous world record of 36 days, nine hours, nine minutes by over seven hours. Aaron will be speaking about his training regime, the struggles along the way, obstacles they faced, and the drive and determination it took to complete the race – resulting in the exhilarating world record!

Nominations will cover all sporting achievements from September 2023 to July 2024. It would be lovely to see pupils who have moved on from BCS at the ceremony, and this year we have added special Alumni categories to celebrate the work of pupils who have recently left BCS.
