Meet Monty, a BCS Prep School pupil and swimming superstar about to move to the BCS Senior School this September. Monty has been swimming with BCS Prep since he was three years old, and has already achieved so much!

Q: How did you get into swimming?

A: My brother has always been into swimming, so my mum wanted me to follow him – so she kind of forced me into it but now I definitely have a real passion for it!

Q: What age did you start swimming?

A: The first time I was in the pool was at 16 weeks old – and my first lessons were when I was three which was at the BCS Prep, and I have continued ever since.

Q: So you’ve been swimming during your time at the Prep school, do you plan to continue as you move on up to Senior?

A: Yes for sure. It is hard waking up at 5am, but once you’ve done a session you’re happy that you’ve got it done, and it becomes part of your routine.

Q: How are you finding the support from BCS?

A: It is so encouraging. All the teachers are great, but Mr Ryan especially. He has taught me for the longest amount of time and he’s so supportive.

Q: We know your medal count is continuing to grow! What’s the most recent win that you’ve had?

A: I’ve just won the under 12’s Butterfly at the Swim England South West Regional Age Group Championships!

Q: What's your rank in the country?

A: It depends on which stroke, but for Butterfly I am 3rd in the UK for under 12's.
