LUCAS IS U15 NATIONAL BEACH VOLLEYBALL CHAMPION
In its 1st year u15 age group was introduced to the UKBT National Beach Volleyball Tour and a Bournemouth student has won the u15 National Junior Beach Volleyball Champions Race title by coming top on the national leader board. The UKBT Champions Race points starts from zero at the beginning of each season (April to October) and accumulates at each event in which a player competes.
Lucas 14, a student at Bournemouth Collegiate School competed in 14 UKBT national adult tournaments all over the country at various locations and accumulated 486 points to win the u15 national junior title. 2nd place went to D. Parsons from Leeds with 378 pts and 3rd place L. Robinson from Wales with 332 pts.
Coached by his father David, former GB and England volleyball player, who commented: this is a great achievement and is down to Lucas’s dedication and commitment to training five times per week outdoors after school in all-weather at the Bournemouth Beach Volleyball Club courts in Boscombe and competing on weekends often on the road to various locations such as Canterbury (Kent), London (Crystal Palace, & Leyton), Worthing (West Sussex), Weymouth (Dorset), Poole (Dorset) and Wales (Cardiff).
Thanks are also given to beach partners who have helped Lucas achieve this result: Rease (Surrey), Maxime (Kent), Sam (Bournemouth) and Marcin (London). Lucas has also had a very busy summer representing England at the under-15 ISF (International School Sport Federation) World Beach Volleyball Championships (Israel, Bat Yam) finishing 9th in the world and England’s best result and was part of England Junior Beach selection programme for u18 European Championships (Spain, Madrid) & u18 Commonwealth Youth Games (Trinidad and Tobago).
Lucas continues his volleyball with u17 Volleyball England National Indoors Cadets Talent Squad and Wessex Volleyball. We look forward to another exciting beach season next summer.
