BCS Iceland Trip 2024!
BCS pupils across Year 8 to Year 12 have had the opportunity to go on a trip of a lifetime to Iceland this week! Staff and pupils certainly managed to squeeze as much in as possible on their week-long trip to Iceland at the beginning of the Easter holidays.
They started off with visiting the ‘Bridge between continents’, which lies on the mid Atlantic Ridge, one of the world’s major plate boundaries; the Reykjavik City Museum; the highly active geothermal Gunnuhver Hot Springs; and the beautiful Urriðafoss Waterfall. They even managed to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights!
The second half of the trip saw them experience the black basalt sands of Reynishverfi Beach; the Lava Centre educational exhibition; Hveradalir, the 'valley of the hot springs'; plus the Raufarholshellir Lava Tunnel. On the final day, they visited one of the most important historical and geographical sites in Iceland, Thingvellir National Park, and finished off at the natural occurring hot spring, the Secret Lagoon. Experience they certainly will never forget!
