Summer of Swimming at BCS

A wonderful two weeks of racing in Sheffield for the BCS swim team.

Proceedings started with the Aquatics GB summer championships where Zack qualified for the Para-swimming multi-classification 200 Individual medley, 400 freestyle and 10 butterfly. Zack qualified for the finals in all three events setting a personal best time in the 200 individual medley and just missing out on the podium n the 400 freestyle with a 4th place finish.

Action moved from the pool to the lake with our distance dynamos heading to Rother Valley for the Swim England National Open Water Championships. Georgia got the day going with a gutsy 21st place in the female 16 years 7.5km event. Rosina followed with a top 20 place in the female 15 years 5km event and then Scott finished the day with a wonderful 6th place in the male 15 years 5km.

Monday and we were back in the for the male 1500 freestyle, here Scott was joined by Zack who had qualified as an Olympic pathway athlete a wonderful achievement in it’s self. Scott swam a personal best swim while Zack went a second best time ever after a long week of swimming.

However Zack was able to sign off with a personal best in the Para-swimming multi-classification 100 breaststroke before stepping up to win silver in the Para-swimming multi-classification 100 freestyle with another personal best swim and first time under 60 seconds long course. A wonderful way to sign off 8 days of competition for Zack who has had a great season including representing Swim England at the Scottish National Open Swimming Championships at the end of June.

Scott finished his national championships with a personal best swim in the 800 freestyle on the same day Lilly started her campaign after qualifying for all three-backstroke events. Battling back from injury Lilly recorded a personal best swim in the 50m backstroke with her next two swims just off best.

From our 5 national qualifiers, 4 of them were on debut.
