COURSE OVERVIEW

Music Technology A-Level covers the study of a wide range of popular music styles and provides a deep understanding of the impact of technology on music and the industry.

Students studying music technology in the Sixth Form are privileged to spend four hours a week in our school studio, working with the programme Logic X on Apple Mac. Through this work they learn how record to a high standard, edit and manipulate sound, sequence MIDI and produce digital sound.

This course is for students who are truly passionate about music. GCSE Music is an essential pre-requisite, as is experience of music theory and grade 3 standard or above on an instrument/voice.

What can pupils’ study next?

There is huge scope for possible careers which use music technology.

Paths which may grow directly from its study include producing, audio engineering, teaching, film or media composing, performing and sound designing to name but a few.
